Special Announcements: REMEMBER TO PRAY: For our prayer list and our missionaries. A SPECIAL LENTEN STUDY is being held each Wednesday evening at 7:00 p.m. in the Hairston Lounge throughout Lent. The studies are replacing the regular Wednesday Prayer Meetings. The Rev. Michael Zumpf is teaching each session. Topic: "What does the Bible (God) say about...?" Come and support this special Lenten activity. THE TENEBRAE THIS YEAR is titled Song of Shadows, composed by Joseph Martin and others. It will be performed by St. Luke's Choir on Maundy Thursday, April 1 at 7:00 p.m following the service of Holy Eucharist. Tenebrae is a service for the last three days of Holy Week. It is a service of mourning observed in the evening in the darkness of the church, commemorating the suffering and death of Christ and symbolizing the darkness over the earth at the time of the Crucifixion. During those last three days, the Teacher was showing us by example the greatest lessons of His ministry: service, obedience, humility and forgiveness. LENTEN MITE BOXES. Please turn in your Mite Box on Easter Sunday, April 4th. The offering collected will be sent to The Persecuted Church, "The Voice of the Martyrs". Your generosity is appreciated. This particular conference will offer several workshops such as Build the Arbor: Developing Mission-Minded Parishes, Rebuild the Walls: Holistic Missions and Partnering with the Church Overseas. Registration forms are available in the Parish House downstairs hall. For more information regarding the conference, contact Jocelyn at church or home. A drawing was held for Sheila's quilt at the Shrove Tuesday Pancake Supper. A total of more than $900 in ticket sales was collected. The winner: A resident of Marion, NC. Many thanks to all who participated. St. Patrick's Day is recognized each year (March 17th) by our Time Out for Jesus children's group. While not a Biblical Saint per se, Patrick was known and loved by thousands who deemed him the "Patron Saint of Ireland." Patrick brought Christianity to Ireland in a.d. 432 onward. He founded the See of Armagh in the year (c. 444) and wrote the "Letter to Coroticus" and "Confessions," which is a moving account of his work and travels. Patrick prayed often to God and built churches all over Ireland. He loved people and spent his lifetime helping them. So, "top 'o the mornin' to you, me laddie" on this special day, March 17th. Wear your green! Time Out for Jesus children's group for ages 5-12 years is meeting on Thursday afternoons at 4:00 p.m. in the Young Adult classroom. This is a time of fellowship and learning and includes Bible stories, games, puzzles, studies of sections of the Bible, great fellowship and delicious refreshments. Please encourage your young children to join in the fun and learning. Episcopal Church Women: DON'T FORGET...the ECW's commitment to provide two meals for the homeless. Our dates are Monday, March 15, supper and Tuesday, March 16, breakfast. Please bring food for both meals when you deliver it on March 15. Your help is needed and much appreciated.
